What is a single tooth dental implant?

Put very simply, a single tooth dental implant is a single implant used to replace one missing tooth. As with other implants, we will affix a small titanium screw into your jawbone and this will act as the new ‘root’ to a prosthetic tooth.

Why might I need a single tooth dental implant?

You might need a single tooth dental implant because you’re missing a tooth, or about to have a tooth extracted. When it comes to missing teeth, we always recommend getting them replaced as a missing tooth can lead to a multitude of dental and oral health problems. It can also really knock your smile confidence.

What can I expect from the treatment?

Before proceeding with the treatment, we’ll first have to make sure you’re a viable candidate for an implant, which we’ll do via an X-ray. We’ll then normally fix a single tooth dental implant in two appointments.

At the first appointment, we’ll fit the implant – or screw – into your jawbone. We’ll then have to wait a few months for it to fuse with your jawbone. Once we’re happy with how the implant is fixed in your jaw, you’ll come back into the practice to get your prosthetic tooth fitted.
