When should I first bring my child to the dentist?

As with all dentistry, prevention is always better than cure and we strongly believe in treating children from as young an age as possible.

We recommend bringing your child in for a check-up either once their first tooth has erupted or by their first birthday – whichever comes first.

What are the benefits of bringing young children to the dentist?

The main benefit of regular check-ups from a young age is healthy teeth and good oral hygiene which can help prevent the development of any issues such as tooth decay.

Regular check-ups can also help us keep an eye on how your child’s teeth are developing – whether they have an overbite, an underbite or a crossbite. This could help us determine early on whether or not they might need orthodontic treatment.

Visits from an early age can also help stop children from developing any fears of phobias regarding dentists, dental treatment and their oral health. We want to make our younger patients feel secure, empowered and informed when it comes to their oral health and hygiene.

What treatments do you provide for children?

Aside from regular check-ups, we can also provide fluoride applications to help mineralise and protect the teeth from developing decay. We also offer tooth-coloured fissure sealants which are applied to the biting surface of the tooth. This can also help prevent decay and the need for fillings in the future.
